Paro to Kathmandu flight path: PBH to KTM

Sit on the Right side of the plane for the best views on flights from Paro to Kathmandu. This short but famously scenic route runs along the southern edge of the Himalayas, and the north-facing (right) side keeps passengers closest to the snow peaks and dramatic valley terrain during both the Paro climb-out and the Kathmandu approach, while the south side mostly shows lower, less distinctive foothill terrain.

During takeoff from Paro (PBH), sit on the Right side for the best views. Departing Paro on runway 15, the aircraft climbs out through the narrow Paro valley with terraced rice fields and pine-forested ridges close on both sides, but the right (north) side opens toward the high Himalayan wall, giving early glimpses of snow peaks as the plane gains altitude and turns west toward Kathmandu. Notable sights include: Paro valley terraced fields, forested ridgelines, distant snow-capped Himalayan peaks to the north, Paro Chhu river.

When landing at Tribhuvan International (KTM), sit on the Right side for the best views. On approach into Kathmandu from the east, the flight path skirts the southern Himalayan front, and the right (north) side offers the best sightlines toward the high peaks before the aircraft banks south into the Kathmandu Valley for landing on runway 02/20. Notable sights include: Himalayan foothills, distant Annapurna and Langtang range peaks, Kathmandu Valley terraces, Bagmati river basin.

The flight from Paro (PBH) to Tribhuvan International (KTM) takes about 45 minutes. The shortest flight path between them is 250 miles (402 km); winds and air traffic control usually add a few percent.
