Sit on the Left side of the plane for the best views on flights from Port-vila to Noumea. The dramatic contrast between reef waters and deep ocean is striking. Notable sights include: Grande Terre's northern coastline, Baie de la Tontouta, extensive coral reef systems (bright turquoise waters), Noumea city and harbor area.

The flight path crosses the New Hebrides Trench and open Coral Sea between the two islands. At cruise altitude, you'll see scattered smaller islands of the Vanuatu archipelago receding to the north (Paama, Lopevi, Ambrym visible as small dark shapes on the horizon if conditions permit). The open ocean dominates the midpoint with occasional cumulus cloud formations. As you approach New Caledonia, the Loyalty Islands (Maré and Lifou) appear as low-lying islands with distinctive reef systems to the east of the main flight path. The transition into Grande Terre's airspace shows the island rising from the sea with its characteristic north-south ridge system becoming increasingly prominent.
