Sit on the Right side of the plane for the best views on flights from Xi'an to Singapore. The right side wins overall because the Qinling Mountains departure view is one of the most dramatic in China — a massive continuous mountain wall rising from flat plains. Over the cruise portion, the right side also tracks closer to the South China Sea coastline of Vietnam and the Gulf of Thailand as the route curves southeast, offering occasional coastal glimpses through cloud breaks. The landing view on the left is excellent but brief.

During takeoff from Xianyang (XIY), sit on the Right side for the best views. Xi'an Xianyang airport typically departs southbound or eastbound. Changi Airport's primary landing approach on runway 02L/02R brings aircraft in from the south over the Singapore Strait. The left side faces east toward the South China Sea and gives a clear view of Changi's coastline, the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, and the dense urban skyline of central Singapore receding to the northwest. The right side faces inland toward Johor Bahru and is less scenic. Notable sights include: Singapore city skyline (Marina Bay area), Johor Strait, Changi coastline and beach, southern Malay Peninsula.

The route crosses the Yunnan Plateau in southern China with its deeply dissected river gorges, then passes over the mountainous terrain of northern Laos and Thailand. The Mekong River is crossable near the China-Laos border. Over central Thailand the terrain flattens into the Chao Phraya basin. The Gulf of Thailand is crossed before descending over the South China Sea toward Singapore, with the Malay Peninsula visible to the right during the final descent.
